How are Tech Savvy Teachers Dealing with Blocked Sites in their Schools?

 

 

 

 

The National School Boards Association has issued this report Creating and Connecting  on Social Networking and Safety. They suggest that the actual dangers to young people are much less than current school policies would seem to suggest, and that many school administrators believe that the frequency of actual problems with students using the internet to be much higher than actual reported incidents.  The NSBA argues that students will best learn safety when actually using tools on the web.

 

In this Edutopia article, the author argues that low income kids especially need access in school to Web 2.0 tools.  Concrete steps for getting sites  unblocked are discussed.
